Held in Stone, Carved with Intention

Baja turquoise, mined in the rugged mountains of Baja California, Mexico, is known for its striking range of colors—from vivid sky blues to deeper oceanic hues, often interwoven with intricate golden or dark brown matrix patterns. This unique turquoise tends to have a natural, earthy character that reflects the raw beauty of the Baja landscape. While less commonly seen than other varieties, Baja turquoise has gained recognition among artisans and collectors for its individuality and vibrant energy. Its relative rarity and organic charm make it a prized choice for one-of-a-kind jewelry and lapidary creations.

Number 8 Turquoise is one of the most legendary and sought-after varieties of American turquoise, prized for its exceptional clarity, rich coloration, and striking spiderweb matrix. Mined in Nevada, the #8 Turquoise mine produced some of the finest material in the world before it closed in the 1950s, making its turquoise increasingly rare and collectible. Stones from this mine often display a vivid robin’s egg blue or greenish-blue hue, laced with intricate webs of golden to reddish-brown matrix that create a dramatic visual contrast. Known for its stability and beauty, #8 Turquoise is cherished by lapidaries and jewelers alike for its ability to transform any piece into something truly timeless.

From the raw veins of the desert to the skilled hands of the artisan, our turquoise is shaped by time and spirit.

At Turquoise Keep, we believe every stone holds memory—and our craft honors that truth.

Royston turquoise is renowned for its stunning range of blues and greens, but among its most captivating forms is Royston ribbon turquoise. This unique variety features a bold vein—or “ribbon”—of turquoise running through the host rock, often a warm, golden to chocolate brown. The striking contrast between the earthy matrix and the vivid turquoise creates a natural, landscape-like effect, resembling a river cutting through canyon walls. Mined in Nevada’s Royston District, this material is especially prized by lapidaries and collectors for its rarity and organic elegance. Each ribbon cabochon is like a miniature desert vista, showcasing the raw artistry of nature and the careful hands that shape it.

Hachita turquoise, mined in the remote mountains of southwestern New Mexico from the Apache mine, is a rare and historically significant variety known for its deep blue-green tones and rich, iron-stained matrix. Once used by Native American artisans for centuries, Hachita turquoise has become increasingly scarce, making it a treasured find for collectors and lapidary artists. One of its most striking forms is Hachita ribbon turquoise, where vibrant turquoise seams flow through the earthy host rock like a desert stream frozen in stone. These ribbon formations offer a raw, sculptural beauty that highlights the stone’s natural origin and enhances its visual storytelling—each cabochon a rugged echo of the land it came from.

Kingman composite turquoise with spiny oyster and bronze is a bold, artisan-crafted material that combines the vivid blues of stabilized Kingman turquoise with the fiery oranges of spiny oyster shell and the warm shimmer of bronze. This composite is artfully assembled and stabilized to create a durable, eye-catching stone that celebrates color, contrast, and texture. The Kingman turquoise, mined in Arizona, brings its signature sky-blue hues, while the spiny oyster adds a touch of oceanic fire, and bronze threads lend a metallic glint that catches the light. The result is a striking cabochon that blends tradition with innovation, perfect for statement jewelry and collectors seeking something both vibrant and unique.
