Phillip Kozlowski is a Woodstock-based master artisan and Air Force veteran. He has been working with wood for several decades now, honing his skills and perfecting his craft. But over the years, expanded his creative horizons and delved into other mediums such as cabochons, silversmithing, and jewelry making.

Questions
What length should the chain be for a pendant?
As a jewelry designer, one of the most common questions I receive is about the appropriate length of chain for a pendant. It’s a valid concern, as the right chain length can make or break the overall look of a necklace.
A delicate and small pendant would look best with a shorter chain, while a larger and bolder pendant would require a longer chain to balance it out.
Since I cut the chain for each pendant I design, I can create anything from 16 inches to 36 inches.
Where do you get your gemstones?
Gemstones come in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes, and each one has its unique characteristics. It’s essential to have a thorough understanding of the properties of different gemstones to make an informed decision.
As a consumer, it’s important to be aware of the ethical sourcing of these raw slabs. I buy from local businesses of RH Gems, Unique Gems & Lapidary, and Antley Creations, along with other vendors at local Gem & Mineral shows. Terri and I also take an annual trip to New Mexico where we source turquoise.
Do you make the cabochons yourself?
Yes, I select the raw materials and then create the cabochon for most of the pieces I design.
Each gemstone is meticulously cut and polished to ensure its brilliance and shine. I take great pride in the craftsmanship and strive to create pieces that are not only visually appealing but also of the highest quality.
Is the silver in the pieces sterling?
Pure silver .999 is too soft to be used in jewelry. It’s easily malleable and can bend or scratch easily. Therefore, it needs to be mixed with other metals to make it more durable and suitable for everyday use.
Sterling silver is the most common form of silver used in jewelry. It’s made up of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper. This combination of metals gives sterling silver its strength and durability while still maintaining its silver color and shine.
All the jewelry created at Tecolote Visions is made with sterling silver.

If you’re not 100% satisfied with your Tecolote Visions piece, there is a full refund policy. Just return the undamaged piece with your receipt to Tecolote Visions and a full refund will be issued.
